Memorial Day Weekend

Well it was a very rainy, windy and cold weekend here in Reno. All our yard work plans went out the window. Therefore, I got to spend the entire weekend teaching myself Photoshop Elements and scrapbooking. I didn't get a lot accomplished but I had fun.

I made thus two page layout "It's A Boy" with Erin's ultrasound and the one page layout for Ryan and Rachel's engagement. With the left over cardstock from the Boy page I made the three Thank You Cards.
We also spent the entire afternoon watching a marathon showing of "Deadly Catch". It was one of those shows you said - Why am I watching this? But you couldn't walk away.

Photoshop Elements 6

Yeah!! I loaded Photoshop Elements 6. The class that I took at TMCC used this version and it was so much easier than PS3. I also like the outcomes of the Quick Fix much better on PS6 than PS3. I started to use the organizer, however, when I went to edit the pictures it took so long to load them. Therefore, I went to my external hard drive and figured out how to organize them there without tags. I am usually interested in a group of pictures and nothing specific so I believe this system will work for me. I then renamed the folders in My Pictures to the dates taken and that will also help. I am only about one third of the way finished but I am happy so far. Now if I could figure out how to make Jim's camera only load new photos it will be much easier. Lately, everytime I load pictures from that camera I get all the photos on the memory card. It is taking so much time to figure out what I have and what I don't have that it has become frustrating. It took about 3 hours to do all the above but I am happy so far.

Washoe Grille

We went to the Washoe Grille for dinner Saturday night. It is always so tasty. I had the sea diver scallops with risotto. Way too many calories but worth it. I just need to work harder at working it off!!!

Got lots done this weekend. Another lesson on Excel is finished. Only two lessons to go and the final exam. I went to my past Photoshop class. I got a lot more out of this session. I went home and tried by my PS3 class is way behind so I went and bought PS6 today. It came with a $20 mail in rebate so I will be sure to get that out tomorrow. Tonight I will go and play with it and see what I think. I can see that it may be very time consuming, but I have lots of free time on my hands right now!!

April

It is already April and there is so much going on. I have a pretty big to do list but I am crossing the items off slowly but surely.
Next weekend is the showers. A Baby Shower for Erin and a Bridal Shower for Rachel. It should be really fun. I have been making favors and buying all sorts of fun stuff! The favors turned out really cute.
I can't believe that Erin is 7 months along. Only two more months and we will have that little guy to hang out with. Steve is so cute. He sent pictures of Aiden's room now that they have finished it. They did an awesome job. Can't wait to Erin next weekend.
Working on finishing up my Excel class. I am two thirds of the way through it today. Only three more lessons and an exam and I will be finished.
Off to change my flight to San Diego so that I can be home that Monday to work since I don't have any coverage.

New Scanner!!!!!

I received my scanner in the mail today. At first I thought no way this is awful.....blah, blah, blah, blah..... I left it for a while and came back and found an easier way to stitch the pages. My only wishes are that the shadow could be lessened in the merge and the color could be more true to life. I might have to call Canon tomorrow or Friday to see what they have to say. I am happy I can finally post layouts to my blog and even to 2P's if I feel like it.

Wedding Dresses

I went shopping with Rachel for her wedding dress today. She looked so beautiful in all of the gowns. She was so cute.... Each dress she would say I like it but it's not the one. Then came the one. She loved it before it was even taken out of the bag. Then when she put it on she knew it was the one. She loved it!!! So we bought it.

Valentine Treats

I made these cute wrappers for hersey bars for Valentine's Day. I think they came out pretty cute!!

I bought myself a new scanner today!! It was only available online at Circuit City and offered free shipping and 3 months no interest. It should be here on the 21st. Guess I should get some scrapping done so I will have something to scan.

Tomorrow I am going with Rachel to look for a dress. Should be fun! Then dinner tomorrow night to celebrate her birthday.

Time Flies

Ten days have passed... Well my computer is no better than it was ten days ago. I had 2G of memory installed for $115.00 and SAM is running so slow. At least the other students in the class are having the same problems. Makes me feel not so all alone.

Chicago was quick and fairly easy. We got through the site visit and the budget in pretty much record time. I didn't get out except for dinner and to pick up a sandwich next door. When we left to go to the airport the temp was 35 below with the wind chill factor. It was supposed to be 60 degrees here in Reno. I therefore decided to pack my jacket in my bag because after all I was only going from the hotel to the cab and the cag into the airport. Well the Southwest line was way to long for Pat so she, Brenda and I went out to curbside check in. It was so fricking freezing.... Good thing we only had to wait about 5 minutes and I was happy that I had my gloves.

Sitting in the airport having lunch I saw Dave Christensen. He, Kris and Chris Padgett had been to Louisville for the game and came home through Midway. Kris saved me a seet on the plane and we chatted to help pass the time away. Who would have thought I would run into them in the Chicago airport?

WASTED DAY!!!

Well, I successfully wasted an entire day (13 long hours) working on my computer. First, I uploaded a movie last night that was a rental from iTunes. It was on my computer but would not sync. So I went through all the upgrades and thought ah ha!! Well much to my dismay after about 90 minutes I emailed iTunes. They tell me that my 5th generation iPod is not compatible for rental movies. They are kind enough to refund me my $3.99.

Then I uploaded a free book at audible.com. At least that worked out for me and is on my iPod and I will have something for my long journey to Chicago on Friday.

Next, lets move on to my Excel 2007 class. I uploaded all the items for the practice and testing portion and wah lah!!!!!!!!!!!! My computer now moves at the pace of a snail on it's death bed. Okay so I call technical support and they tell me - I didn't need to upload all that stuff (I read the instructions and it did not tell me that for Vista I do not need all of that). So we worked around and he says the only thing I can tell you is to uninstall and reinstall the last two steps. So, three hours later it is still slow. I then decide that I still have 43 days left on my Dell Service Control. After 90 minutes he tells me that it is probably because I only have 512 mg of RAM. Vista takes all that just to run..... and at that it will still run slow. So he suggested buying more memory from Dell and then install it myself...... Thanks for nothing............. I have decided to call the computer place that we use at work and do a little investigating and then take it and buy and have the guy install it there. I will not be able to take exams for the class because they are timed if I don't upgrade the memory. I checked on line and Dell sells 1 gb for $38. I am hoping I can buy 2 gb and have it installed for $75 to $100. I am wishing myself luck on this one.

Needless to say I did not get much done on my valentine goodies. I am off to work on that right now. Again, I am wishing myself luck on that because I want to get 6 treats done to take to my chickas in Chicago!!!

Oh, and lest I forget - It snowed last night and it is snowing again tonight. What is a day without snow fall like. I can't remember.

The End of January.........Where did it go???????

I cannot believe that it is the last day of January. What did I do all month that makes me feel like I have no free time. I have been lax about exercising and watching what I eat. February will need to be better.

Last weekend I went to the Wedding Fair with Ryan and Rachel. They got so many great ideas. I think they have the place, dj, a band for Ryan and a wedding dress fitting all arranged on one day. Rachel has been sick this week so Ryan has taken on some of the duties of the planning. I am proud of him.

Erin is still carrying on!!! She is on the down side of the pregnancy at about 5 months. She has an appointment with her new OB on Monday so hopefully this one will work out and she will like him. She made some letters that spell Aiden to put on his wall this week. Can't wait to see them.

I have just finished my Week 1 Assignments for my Excel 2007 Certification Prep class. I think I am in the swing of things again. I enjoy taking classes - it keeps my mind going.

I need to find a new scanner so I can post some of the pages I have been making. Maybe next week (or when I get back from Chicago) I can start looking for one!

Some scrappy things have been going on in the red room upstairs!! Tonight I finished a layout of Thanksgiving in Las Vegas with Erin and Steve. I am going to spend some time making some Valentines day candy wrappers and cards this weekend. So, tomorrow I must come home and get the house taken care of so that I have plenty of time to have fun this weekend in the red room.

Once again, it is snowing......... I can't even remember how many days in a row it has snowed but I do know that it is at least two weeks. Looks like some serious shoveling in the morning.... maybe even a snow day for Jim.

It's A Boy!!!!!!!!!

Yeah!! Erin called today after her 3D ultrasound. The baby cooperated and we found out that it is going to be a boy. She is so excited. She told Jim tonight she just knew it was going to be a boy. I thought all along a girl because every time I thought of the baby I thought girl. I am so excited either way. Can't wait to see Erin and Steve this weekend.

Monday!

The storm of the century wasn't quite the storm of the century but it did bring about 10 inches of snow to our neighborhood. Jim had to shovel on both Saturday and Sunday!

I came home on Friday about 1:00 PM and we didn't leave the house until it was time to go to work this morning. Neither one of us likes driving when it is snowing and the roads are icy. Lots of home cooking and rest. I actually spent quite a bit of time scrapbooking and finished three two page layouts (Now I just need to figure a good way to photograph them to include in my blog!).

Out with the Old and In with the New!

Well 2007 ended with a bad bang and 2008 started with tears. I think that we have moved past it though.

We spent yesterday laying around watching Basketball, Football and movies in our pajamas. I said we were bums but Jim says it was relaxing and we needed it.

The eggs were too cooked and the juicer made a huge mess!!! Hope my cooking endeavors for this year are going to go uphill from here.

I will try to be a better wife and be more energetic. I guess "Energetic" should be my word for the year. No resolutations as I always fail at that.
